Carbon counting

A Bilan Carbone® carbon counting diagnostic will be carried out during the ECRI2008 Conference, by the company EcoAct, which implements greenhouse gas emissions reduction and offset programs.

What is Bilan Carbone® carbon counting?

Bilan Carbone® is a method to measure human-generated greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions. This tool, developed by ADEME (the French Environment and Energy Management Agency), allows for:

- Measurement of the greenhouse gas emissions generated by the conference;
- Identification of the principal contributors to greenhouse gas emissions;
- Development of an emissions reduction action plan, for example: the reduction of energy consumption and transportation emissions, etc.

The Bilan Carbone® diagnostic particularly allows for the evaluation of direct and indirect emissions generated by the conference, for example, by:

  • Attendee’s transportation to the congress;
  • The energy consumption of the conference room;
  • The use of products and services;
  • The Lunch and accommodation of attendees.

This carbon imprint, expressed as the number of tons of CO2 equivalent (or tCO2e), represents the impact of the conference on the environment.

Attendee’s transportation is one of the most GHG emissions contributor. In this framework, could you please fill in this form concerning your transportation mode to attend this conference.

Bilan Carbone® carbon counting will allow us to reduce the environmental imprint in our day-to-day activities and to further continue our actions in favour of the environment.

Bilan Carbone® is a registered trademark of ADEME. EcoAct is licensed by ADEME for the implementation of this methodology.
